Corcovado Area

The Corcovado is a fabulous fishing area that extends more than 100 kilometers in Argentina before crossing the border into Chile, where it is called the Palena River.

It begins in Vinter Lake, one of the largest in the region that maintains its levels and cold temperatures due to its size. The first section provides spawning ground for large rainbow trout and the enormous Brook trout that lent it fame worldwide.

In this section the resident trouts are medium-sized rainbow trouts. Downstream and closer to Corcovado, it is recommended to fish with large dry and nymph flies.

An average day on the Corcovado offers a combination of whitewater and flatwater, the latter of which is home to Pacific salmon that travel upstream from Chile to spawn. Some of the biggest brown trout of each season are caught here, as they must grow large and strong in order to thrive in the high flows.

Lakes and streams

In this area one can fish several lakes and streams, with some of the best known being: Lago Guacho, Lagunas del Engaño, Río Tigre, Lago Berta, Arroyo Poncho Moro, Arroyo Comisario.
